Canada Calls on Korea to Buy Canadian Beef

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz Canada has issued an ultimatum to South Korea to buy canadian beef.
Since May 2003 Korea Has Ban canadian beef by giving BSE excuse.
Ritz announce a timeline to start buying Canadian beef again, or he vorn korea to face potential trade action.

Minister Ritz also says that Korian should follow in the footsteps of other countries like Hong Kong and Japan. He says they need to look at the status of Canada, which is exactly the same as the US, and move forward. Korea has been accepting beef from the US and Australia.

Ritz says Korea has until the end of this month to announce a time-line to re-introduce Canadian beef.

On-demand webinar, hosted by the Meat Institute, experts from the USDA, National Pork Board (NPB) and Merck Animal Health introduced the no-cost 840 RFID tag program—a five-year initiative supported through African swine fever (ASF) preparedness efforts. Beginning in Fall 2025, eligible sow producers, exhibition swine owners and State Animal Health Officials can order USDA-funded RFID tags through Merck A2025-10_nimal Health.

NPB staff also highlighted an additional initiative, funded by USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Veterinary Services through NPB, that helps reduce the cost of transitioning to RFID tags across the swine industry and strengthens national traceability efforts.
