He had a reputation as a builder, always looking for ways forward.
“I affectionately called him ‘Bob the Builder,’” Wally Butler, CFO of Mazergroup, told the Brandon Sun. “That’s really what he did all his life – build things. From launching irrigated potato acres near Rivers Force Air Base to transforming downtown Brandon by investing in The Town Centre, Bob was always working to grow something.”

Mazer’s work in the community and in ag earned him multiple distinctions and opportunities.
He was the president of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce from 1990-91. He was named Brandon’s Businessperson of the Year in 1998 and last year received an induction into the Farm Equipment Dealership Hall of Fame.
In 2025, he received the Dealership of the Year award.
Any future success of Mazergroup can be traced back to Bob’s work.
“Bob was a staple in Canadian agriculture and the New Holland dealer network, and his absence will surely be missed,” Kim Schmidt, the executive editor of Farm Equipment, wrote in a tribute piece. “But, he built a business and a team to be proud of, and I have no doubt Mazergroup is in good hands and will continue to grow and improve as planned.”
On social media, multiple people and organizations took a moment to celebrate Mazer’s life and legacy.
Premier Wab Kinew described him as “a great Manitoban who helped to make Westman and our province a better place,” he said on X. “His legacy will live on with Mazergroup, in the Ag industry and through his philanthropy. He will be missed!”
The North American Equipment Dealers Association called Mazer a “true leader” in the industry, and that his impact on equipment dealerships won’t be forgotten.
“Bob’s vision, leadership, and passion not only helped shape the mazergroup organization but also left a lasting impact on the industry in Manitoba. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mazergroup team, and the entire Mazer family. His legacy will continue to inspire us all,” Atom-Jet Industries said on X.
