Autonomous Aftermarket Kit Gives You a Self-Driving Tractor

The new partnership between Bluewhite and New Holland is bringing cutting-edge autonomous technology to specialty crop farming.

This collaboration focuses on enhancing the efficiency of operations in orchards, vineyards, and other permanent crop areas through innovative aftermarket kits.

Farms.com connected with Brad Littlefield, precision product manager at CNH Industrial, to learn about this recent collaboration and the products coming to market.

These kits are currently available for New Holland’s T4.110 and T4.120F models and offer a range of autonomous features. You can look forward to tasks such as specialty spraying and mowing being performed autonomously, without the need for a driver.

This technology could be a game-changer for those struggling to source laborers while simultaneously having the ability to increase precision in their operations.

The technology behind these autonomous features includes LiDAR and front-mounted sensors, combined with a compass feature.

This setup is supported by an offline, cloud-based system designed for path planning and full fleet monitoring. Such capabilities allow a single operator to manage an entire fleet from a central office location, streamlining the process and enhancing productivity across the board.

As this technology is integrated, it promises a driverless solution to handling complex farming tasks.

The initial offering will be available as an aftermarket purchase, with prospects of these kits being pre-fitted at the factory.

Farmers interested in adopting this technology can expect these autonomous kits to not only improve the efficiency of their operations but also to contribute to long-term sustainability by optimizing resource use and reducing waste.

This initiative is a part of a broader move towards precision agriculture, where technology meets traditional farming to create smarter, more sustainable practices.
