The Minister of Agriculture’s visit to China last week is an important step in improving relations with the People’s Republic of China, and both the Canadian Meat Council and the Canadian Pork Council were pleased to join him for the trip.
The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, visited the People’s Republic of China for a variety of meetings, including addressing the annual meeting of the Canada-China Business Council on Friday, November 15, 2024.
“Minister MacAulay’s decision to undertake this visit highlights how important bilateral trade is between our two countries, especially in agriculture and agri-food products,” states Chris White, President and CEO, CMC, Canada Pork. “We know a visit like this demonstrates how seriously he takes this, and we appreciate his leadership on the issue.”
The CPC chair René Roy says the mission comes at a pivotal time, “Canadian pork producers are passionate about building strong trading relationships with China. Having one of our government’s most senior ministers attending this mission is an indication of that commitment.”
