Government of Canada invests in 4-H Canada to support the next generation of agricultural leaders

May 03, 2019
Ottawa, Ontario – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada - Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Marie-Claude Bibeau announced an investment of up to $3 million under the AgriCompetiveness Program for 4-H Canada while meeting with a group of youth taking part in the 47th annual 4-H Canada Citizenship Congress in Ottawa. The funding will allow 4-H Canada to continue to deliver impactful national programming that will empower youth to be responsible, caring and contributing leaders.

With this investment, 4-H Canada aims to reach even more youth across Canada through relevant youth leadership programs and initiatives in the areas of sustainable agriculture, food security, science and technology, the environment, health and nutrition, and community engagement. Through the delivery of exchanges, internships, hands-on learning activities, and conferences like the annual Citizenship Congress, 4-H Canada will provide youth with opportunities to develop knowledge and capacity in these areas, advance their leadership skills, and explore various career paths.

In support of these activities, 4-H will deliver social media content, publications, and other communications materials and resources to a diverse spectrum of audiences in order to further expand the reach of 4-H clubs in rural communities.
