We are happy to announce that #ForageFocus will go ahead again in 2021 in digital format. This year’s event will take place over 3 days from 12-1pm daily from November 30 – December 2, 2021.
Our speaker line-up has been finalized! We will be enjoying the educational wisdom of Dr. Renato Schmidt, OMAFRA’s Anita Heeg, and Dr. Kim Cassida.
Renato Schmidt is the Forage Products Specialist at Lallemand Specialties Inc. Dr. Renato Schmidt has a dairy/beef cattle farm background and is originally from Brazil, where he obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees. He moved to the USA to earn his Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the University of Delaware with Dr. Limin Kung Jr. and worked in numerous experiments evaluating the effects of different additives on the fermentation of forage crops. He’s authored and co-authored 16 peer-review manuscripts, 32 scientific abstracts and 47 technical articles and joined LANNA as Forage Products Specialist in February/2008.
Anita Heeg is OMAFRA’s Feed Ingredient and By Product Specialist
Dr. Kim Cassida is the Extension Forage and Cover Crop Specialist for Michigan State University, with degrees from Penn State and the University of Maine. Her extension program focuses on all things forage, and her research program focuses on management of alfalfa, perennial and annual mixtures, and the role of forages and cover crops in improving stability of
agroecosystems. In her spare time she raises sheep.
These annual conferences have a major focus on Stored Feed. Our primary focus is the Dairy Industry, but some Beef Feedlot operators may find these conferences beneficial as well.
