Mar 04, 2016
The U.S. has passed a law repealing discriminatory labeling requirements for beef and pork.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Wednesday amended the relevant regulations for this change to take effect.

Canada is now reviewing the amendment.

In a press release yesterday International Trade Minister Chrystia Freeland and Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay said the World Trade Organization found COOL to be inconsistent with the United States’ international trade obligations, as it discriminated against Canadian cattle and hogs.
