USDA Crop Progress Report: Another Huge Planting Week.

The USDA released the weekly Crop Progress Report Monday afternoon.

Farmers had a great week of planting.  U.S. corn crop went in at a huge rate over the past week, helped out by good weather. As of Sunday, 75% of corn is planted, compared to 55% the previous week and the five year average of 57%. 29% has emerged, compared to 24% on average.

Farmers also started to plant soybeans this week.  More than 31% of U.S. soybeans are planted, compared to 13% a week ago, 18% a year ago, and 20% on average.

56% of the winter wheat crop has headed, compared to 45% on average, and 44% of the crop is in good to excellent condition, up 1% on the week and 14% more than this time last year. 87% of spring wheat is planted, compared to 51% on average, and 54% has emerged, compared to 25% on average.

56% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are rated good to excellent, 3% higher than the week before.
