NASS Releases 2025 Planting and Grain Stock Statistics
According to the USDA’s Acreage report released by NASS, U.S. farmers planted 95.2 million acres of corn in 2025, an increase of 5% from last year. Soybean area declined to 83.4 million acres, 4% lower than in 2024.
This data follows the Prospective Plantings report from March and is based on surveys of over 67,000 farmers conducted in early June.
Corn growers plan to harvest 86.8 million acres, and 94% of the corn is biotech. Soybean harvested area is projected at 82.5 million acres, with 96% using herbicide-resistant seeds.
Cotton planting fell to 10.1 million acres, down 10% from last year. Upland cotton accounts for 9.95 million acres, and American Pima 171,000 acres. Biotech cotton planting is now 97%, a slight increase.
