Saskatchewanians Can Look Forward To ‘Average’ Summer Weather, Says Meteorologist

May 29, 2017

According to the Weather Network, the forecast for the prairies this summer ranges from hot to cool — to just right.

The Weather Network’s outlook indicates a bit warmer than usual for Alberta, and a bit cooler than usual for Manitoba, which leaves Saskatchewan in the middle with seasonal temperatures.

Meteorologist Doug Gillham said Saskatchewanians can look forward to steady weather over the next few months.

“It doesn’t look like a summer where heat and drought take over the pattern, nor is it a summer where there is a total absence of heat,” explained Gillham. “It’s going to be one of the typical summers with those back-and-forth swings that we can expect, and we should avoid wide-spread, prolonged drought.”

Although there could be some pockets throughout the province that miss the rain and experience a drier summer, Gillham predicts rainfall to be average across the map.
