Nutrien has joined the Iowa Soybean Research Center at Iowa State University as an industry partner. In this role, Nutrien will have a representative serving on the ISRC’s industry advisory council, which provides guidance on research needs and funding priorities for the center.
“We recognize Nutrien as one of the world's largest providers of crop inputs, particularly potash and nitrogen fertilizer. They will bring very useful insight and perspective to the Iowa Soybean Research Center and its advisory council. We look forward to having their representative join the council in guiding our investments in soybean research at Iowa State University,” said Greg Tylka, director of the Iowa Soybean Research Center and professor of plant pathology and microbiology at Iowa State.
As an industry partner, Nutrien’s contributions will include financial support to the center, which will be leveraged with soybean checkoff funds from the Iowa Soybean Association to fund soybean research at the university.
“We welcome Nutrien as the center’s newest industry partner and look forward to gaining their valuable perspective in identifying ways to improve soybean productivity and sustainability. Ultimately, we have a shared goal of providing valuable research outcomes that will benefit Iowa’s soybean farmers, said Christie Wiebbecke, senior director of research for the Iowa Soybean Association and chair of the Iowa Soybean Research Center’s Industry Advisory Council.
The center is a formal collaboration of Iowa State’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Iowa Soybean Association and industry partners. Together, representatives from ISA and the industry make up the ISRC’s Industry Advisory Council. Nutrien is the center’s newest industry partner, joining AGCO, Albaugh, AMVAC, BASF, Bayer, Beck’s, Cornelius Seed, Corteva Agriscience, FMC, GDM, Innvictis/Simplot, Latham Hi-Tech Seeds, Merschman Seeds, Mosaic, Peterson Genetics, Syngenta and UPL.
