John Deere And Equipment Innovation: A Year In Awards

Jan 30, 2019

It goes without saying that John Deere has always been dedicated to creating the next big thing across industries, from agriculture to construction. This hard work has not gone unnoticed, with Deere being recognized for equipment innovation among top global companies. A research project led by the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University and the Norwegian School of Economics recently found that customers rank Deere ahead of major technologies companies, such as Facebook and Google, when it comes to innovation.

The end result of the research was the American Innovation Index, the first-ever survey in the US which measured company innovativeness based on customers’ experiences. The report also looked at the work that companies perform in the area of social innovation – Deere earned the top ranking in this category.

“Each day, John Deere employees working in research and development are focused on technology breakthroughs that benefit the customer,” said Dr. Klaus Hoehn, Vice President of Advanced Technology and Engineering. “It is certainly great news to see those efforts recognized.”

Lerzan Aksoy, a professor of marketing at Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business, noted that social innovation is something that “firms are increasingly embracing,” including Deere.

“We feel so strongly about being a good corporate citizen or a Power for Good, that our corporate strategy cites civic and environmental stewardship as a factor critical to John Deere’s success,” said Sam Allen, Chairman and CEO, Deere & Company, in company’s 2018 citizenship and sustainability report.

But this wasn’t the only time that Deere was recognized for its efforts in 2018. Here are some of the other awards that the company has won in recent years for its dedication to equipment innovation.
