FFA and USDA Strengthen Commitment to Agriculture Careers
National FFA Week is a time to recognize and celebrate the impact of the National FFA Organization in shaping future leaders in agriculture. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has a long-standing partnership with FFA, supporting its mission to promote education, leadership, and career opportunities in the industry.
Each year, FFA members and supporters come together to highlight the importance of agricultural education. The week, held from February 15-22, provides an opportunity for USDA to engage with FFA students, fostering discussions about career growth and industry innovation. Many FFA members have gone on to become professionals in the USDA, continuing their passion for agriculture.
Jody McDaniel, a USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service director and FFA alumnus, reflected on his experience: “February is a month when I reflect on the opportunities that my time as an Eldorado, Illinois FFA member provided as I transitioned into a career in agriculture.” Many USDA staff share similar sentiments, recognizing FFA’s influence on their professional journeys.
Horace Hodge, a USDA liaison, continues to give back to FFA by organizing leadership and career development programs at Prairie View A&M University. “FFA has more to do with who I am today than any other organization I am affiliated with,” he said.
USDA remains committed to supporting FFA through career programs, internships, and student engagement initiatives. Through active collaboration, the department continues to encourage young agricultural leaders to explore opportunities in the industry.
USDA proudly celebrates National FFA Week and looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with FFA.
Happy National FFA Week from all of us at USDA!
