USDA Announces Sales Closing Dates for 2025 Coverage

The USDA has issued a reminder to farmers about the fast-approaching deadlines for crop insurance applications and modifications. The key sales closing dates for 2025 coverage are February 28, March 15, and April 15.

Crop insurance provides essential financial security for farmers, helping them manage risks related to weather, disease, and market fluctuations. Farmers can select from various insurance options, including yield protection, revenue protection, and area risk plans.

Whole-Farm Revenue Protection covers all commodities under a single policy, while the Micro Farm program is designed for small-scale producers. These programs simplify insurance access and provide coverage for farm-related losses, including post-production costs.

The USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) offers online tools such as the Actuarial Information Browser and the RMA Map Viewer to help producers identify insurance timelines. Farmers are encouraged to use these resources to ensure timely coverage.

“Federal crop insurance helps producers manage revenue risks and strengthens the rural economy,” the USDA stated. Farmers should meet with crop insurance agents before the sales closing date to finalize their coverage decisions.

Producers can find crop insurance agents through the RMA Agent Locator or visit their local RMA office for more details. With the 2025 crop year approaching, farmers must act soon to secure their financial safety net.
