NRCS CSP Application Deadline Set for April 1 2025

The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in California is urging farmers and ranchers to apply for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) before the April 1, 2025, deadline. While applications are accepted throughout the year, those submitted after this date will not be considered for the 2025 funding cycle.

CSP is designed to support agricultural producers in adopting conservation practices that benefit both their operations and the environment.

The program provides annual payments for activities such as forestry management, improved irrigation systems, and livestock grazing management. CSP also promotes soil health, water conservation, and pollinator-friendly farming practices.

Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will work with NRCS specialists to create a tailored Conservation Plan. This plan will outline specific CSP enhancements aimed at addressing key resource concerns, including water quality, erosion control, and biodiversity improvements.

“The Conservation Stewardship Program provides vital support for farmers looking to integrate sustainable practices into their operations,” an NRCS official stated. “By participating, producers can improve their land while maintaining productivity.”

Farmers interested in CSP can contact their nearest USDA Service Center or log into farmers.gov to apply, manage conservation plans, and explore available resources.
