New USDA Appointments Focus on Farmers First

New USDA appointees aim to strengthen agriculture and support farmers nationwide

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced a new slate of leadership appointments aimed at strengthening rural communities and supporting farmers. “Under President Trump’s leadership, USDA is building a powerhouse team of Presidential Appointees deeply committed to uplifting rural America and putting Farmers First. With strong experience in agriculture, public service, and national security, this team will protect family farms, expand opportunities, and proudly implement America First policies,” said Secretary Brooke Rollins.  

“I look forward to working together to deliver real results for the American people, particularly the farmers, ranchers, and producers who feed and fuel our nation,” said Rollins. 

Doug Hoelscher was appointed as Minister-Counselor at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organizations in Rome, Italy. Hoelscher previously served in multiple White House and federal roles and grew up on a corn, soybean, and pig farm in Iowa. 

Tate Bennett joins as Principal Deputy Chief of Staff. She previously held White House and EPA positions, and most recently directed rural policy at the America First Policy Institute. Hailey Ghee was named Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, bringing experience from USDA, the Small Business Administration, and Congress. 

Reya Brogan becomes Chief of Staff for the Risk Management Agency. Brogan managed R&D supply chain risks for the Department of Defense and worked on agricultural market expansion in South Asia and West Africa. 

State leadership appointments include Troy Romero (Louisiana), Chris Lyons (Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island), Dominic Restuccia (Michigan), and Travis Day (New Mexico) for Rural Development. All bring extensive local knowledge and policy experience to support rural programs. 

Farm Service Agency leadership appointments include Rob Sullivan (Connecticut), Cory Atkins (Delaware), Starlyn Perdue (Iowa), Philip Cowee (Nevada), Wilmer Stoneman III (Virginia), and Patrick Bell (Washington). These leaders have deep agricultural roots and strong community connections. 

Kennon White was appointed Assistant Chief South Region for the Natural Resources Conservation Service. White has extensive conservation experience, restoring streams and supporting water quality while maintaining family farming operations. 

These appointments reflect USDA’s focus on advancing agriculture, improving rural economies, and supporting farmers nationwide. Secretary Rollins highlighted the team’s dedication to delivering results for American producers and rural communities.
