Guelph, ON  – Bioenterprise Canada is pleased to announce the first successful applicants of the Grow Ontario Accelerator Hub (GOAH). Thirty-one (31) Ontario-based companies have been selected to receive advisory, mentorship, and support services through our growing national network, Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine.

“Through initiatives like the Grow Ontario Accelerator Hub, these companies will be able to access the support they need to create new opportunities and bring their innovative agri-food and agri-tech solutions to market,” said the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. “Ontario’s agri-food sector is leading, both in innovation and delivering top-quality food to Canadians.”

“Ontario is proud of our investment in the Grow Ontario Accelerator Hub, which provides specialized mentorship and support to Ontario-based companies,” said Rob Flack, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness. “We are committed to increasing the development and adoption of new innovations, technologies, and best practices, because we know that in doing so, we are positioning the industry for further success and growth.”

The Grow Ontario Accelerator Hub is funded by the Governments of Canada and Ontario through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP), a five-year, federal-provincial-territorial initiative. GOAH provides support to innovative Ontario based companies to advance more solutions and technologies to market.

Dave Smardon, CEO of Bioenterprise says, “The creation of the Grow Ontario Accelerator Hub is a strong indicator of just how important innovation is to the future competitiveness of Ontario’s agriculture and food sectors. The Ontario government has recognized this and the companies that have qualified under this initiative represent some of the most innovative in the province and in Canada. Across the agri-food supply chain, the adoption of innovation is critical to enhancing competitiveness, growing market opportunities, and strengthening the sector. And this is only the beginning!”

The Grow Ontario Accelerator Hub Initiative supports the Grow Ontario Strategy which aims to increase the creation and adoption of innovative technologies to enhance competitiveness, grow market opportunities and strengthen the agri-food sector against future disruptions. The objective of this initiative is to provide a suite of advisory services and mentorship to innovative companies in Ontario.
