FVGC welcomes new director to lead policy and advocacy efforts
The Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) has appointed Dr. Erik Nielsen as its first Director of Policy, Research and Public Affairs, effective August 18. This newly created role reflects FVGC’s commitment to advancing the interests of Canadian fruit and vegetable growers through stronger policy advocacy, evidence-based research, and meaningful government engagement.
Dr. Nielsen brings over 20 years of leadership experience in public policy, strategic communications, and advocacy. He has worked with organizations including Export Development Canada, Plan International Canada, Nutrition International, and Global Affairs Canada.
Holding a doctorate in International Environmental Policy and having worked in ten countries, he offers both domestic and global insight into agriculture’s policy challenges.
FVGC Executive Director Massimo Bergamini expressed confidence in Nielsen’s appointment, noting that his expertise in policy, advocacy, and strategic partnerships will be essential in advancing growers’ priorities.
