4-H Canada is thrilled to announce the winners of our third annual 4-H Canada Science Fair, recently selected by a panel of 12 judges at the annual event in Truro, Nova Scotia. The five winners will move on to the Canada-Wide Science Fair taking place in Ottawa, Ontario from May 12‒19, 2018.
With the generous support of Bayer – 4-H Canada’s Science & Technology pillar partner – 18 talented 4-H members traveled to Truro from across Canada for a chance to share their work and earn top honours. A total of 14 innovative projects were presented, ranging in topics from analyzing the growth of microgreens to a look into a cost-effective manner of extracting chitin and chitosan from lobsters.
“We are incredibly proud of all those who participated in the 4-H Canada Science Fair. With the support of Bayer, 4-H will continue to play an active role in engaging young people in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics,” said Shannon Benner, 4-H Canada CEO. “Congratulations to everyone who took part in the event hosted by Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture. All of 4-H in Canada will be watching as our winners move to the next stage of competition at the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Ottawa.”
