Kansas State University’s daily newspaper posted an online article, as well as Twitter post, claiming a student had created a gluten-free purple wheat. The student, Hayden Field, claimed he created a wheat product that was gluten-free and didn’t taste like carboard.
The newly developed crop was named Whurple and would turn purple when cooked at 1,868 F.
