Texas Monthly posted an article on its website stating actor Matthew McConaughey was thinking about a write-in candidacy for the state agriculture commissioner. The article, which was laid out like a legitimate news piece, had quotes from McConaughey as well as information on the candidates he would be running against.
People believed the article even though the news organization posted a disclaimer at the top of the piece.
