As of Aug. 27, MLB hasn’t made any formal announcements regarding the game.
If the two teams play in the Field of Dreams event next season, the game will occur in August.
The Phillies and Twins are scheduled for a three-game series from Aug. 14 to 16.
MLB has held two previous Field of Dreams games.
The first one took place in 2021 and saw the Chicago White Sox defeat the New York Yankees.
MLB originally wanted the game to be played on the field constructed for the 1989 movie. But when it couldn’t be brought up to league standards without permanently altering its movie authenticity, organizers decided to build a new diamond beside the tourist attraction and within a corn field.
Members of Iowa’s ag community used the game in 2021 as an opportunity to help educate people about agriculture.
“You couldn’t ask for a better platform when you think about how many people watched the game and were in town for the festivities,” Greg Alber, president of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board in 2021, told Farms.com at the time. “And when you think about baseball, the food people eat during the game and even some of the equipment, it ties back to agriculture.”
In the 2022 edition of the game, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cincinnati Reds.
