OFAC: Lessons To Be Learned From Truck Rollovers

An Ontario Farm Animal Council spokesperson says she doesn’t think three recent rollovers involving livestock transporters is a developing trend.

Two of the rollovers involved pigs – the third cattle.

Crystal MacKay says OFAC  has some training programs for truckers handling livestock.

MacKay says OFAC is developing case studies of the three recent rollovers to include as part of their future training programs.

Three recent livestock truck rollovers could lead to changes in some of the training programs being run by the Ontario Farm Animal Council.

OFAC’s Crystal MacKay says they’re going to try to share some of the lessons learned from those rollovers with truckers and emergency responders.

MacKay says the programs run by OFAC are not mandatory – but many processing plants across the country are now starting to ask that their transporters have the certification to deliver to those operations.
