The USDA released the weekly Crop Progress Report and farmers were able to continue making advancements in planting corn and soybeans this week.
The USDA says this year’s U.S. corn and soybean planting stayed close to the 5 year average last week.
That’s a national average and some key growing areas did see further disruption from weather, including heavy rainfall, hail, and cooler than normal conditions.
As of Sunday, 84% of corn is planted, compared to the five year average of 85%, 54% has emerged, compared to 55% on average.
53% of soybeans are planted, compared to 52% typically this time of year, with 19% emerged, compared to 21% normally.
52% of winter wheat is in good to excellent condition, up 1% from last week, but 10% below last year, and 72% of the crop has headed. 90% of spring wheat is planted, compared to 84% on average, and 62% has emerged, compared to 59% usually this time of year.
62% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, unchanged from a week ago.
