USDA Crop Progress Report: 75% of Corn Planted.

USDA released the weekly Crop Progress Report today.

Wet weather across large regions of the US Midwest slowed progress.

U.S. corn planting did advance over the past week, but weather kept some producers out of the field.

As of Sunday, 75% of this year’s crop is planted, compared to 64% a week ago, 82% a year ago, and the five year average of 70%. Missouri remains the closest to the finish at 96%. Nationally, 43% of corn has emerged, compared to the normal pace of 34%.

36% of soybeans are planted, compared to 23% last week, 41% last year, and 32% on average. Louisiana and Mississippi are the furthest along, both at 72%, followed by Minnesota at 63%. 10% of soybeans have emerged, versus 9% typically this time of year.

62% of U.S. winter wheat is rated good to excellent, unchanged on the week, and 68% has headed.

89% of spring wheat has been planted and 60% has emerged, which are well ahead of average.

63% of pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, up 1% from a week ago.
