Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Director Nominations

Sep 07, 2016

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) is reminding growers that the deadline for nominations to fill three positions on the SPG Board of Directors is October 4, 2016 at 12 PM CST.

“Through our call for nominations, SPG is hoping to engage farmers who are committed to the sustainable future of the Saskatchewan pulse industry and agriculture more broadly,” says Corey Loessin, Vice-Chair of the SPG Board of Directors. “The pulse industry in Saskatchewan is in a period of strong growth, and we are looking for farmers who want to help continue to lead the way through their role as an SPG Director.”

To be eligible to sit on the SPG Board, you must be a registered pulse grower (i.e. you have sold a Saskatchewan-grown pulse crop and paid levy within the last two years).

Director responsibilities include:
  1. Supervising the management of the business and affairs of SPG including oversight of management, providing strategic direction, and ensuring effective governance of the organization.
  2. Board meetings approximately seven times per year and attending conference calls as required.
  3. Representing SPG at other meetings and events throughout the year.
Nomination forms are available on the SPG website at saskpulse.com or you can receive one by calling 306-668-0590. Three other registered growers must sign nomination forms.

If the registered grower is a corporation, partnership, or other legal entity, it can designate a representative to vote and hold office. A proper designation form (available at saskpulse.com) must accompany the nomination form for every director nominee or director nominator affected by this regulation.

Completed forms should be mailed, faxed, or emailed to Shelly Weber (contact information listed below). All nominations must be received no later than 12:00 PM CST on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.
