Registration Deadline Extended for 2024 Biodiesel Open

Biodiesel plays a vital role in supporting Minnesota’s economy, as well as cutting emissions and allowing Minnesotans to breathe clean and healthy air. For more than 15 years, biodiesel supporters have followed through on their commitment toward promoting a cleaner fuel by participating in the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association’s (MSGA) Biodiesel Open.

This year’s Biodiesel Open tees off Monday, Aug. 19 at the Crow River Golf Club in Hutchinson. Registration for the event has been extended to Thurs., Aug. 15.

MSGA advocates for biodiesel in St. Paul and Washington, D.C., and continues fighting for farmers by joining a lawsuit challenging the state of Minnesota’s adoption of California’s zero-emission vehicle mandate, along with ensuring biofuels are included in the growing sustainable aviation fuel market. The biodiesel industry is important to Minnesota soybean farmers and the state’s economy overall by contributing contributing nearly $1.7 billion toward the state’s economy and supporting more than 5,000 jobs. In addition, biodiesel boosts demand for soy by 13 percent. A proven environmental winner, biodiesel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50 percent.

“The Biodiesel Open is one of those days that I move heaven and earth to try not to miss,” said Jackson farmer Chris Hill, a director with MSGA and the American Soybean Association. “Everyone in the industry looks forward to coming together and talking about their trials and triumphs. It’s a good return on my investment in MSGA.”

Proceeds from the Biodiesel Open support MSGA’s advocacy efforts in St. Paul and Washington, D.C.
