PTx Winter Conference highlights planting spraying and autonomy advances

Precision Planting introduced several new planting and spraying products during the 2026 PTx Winter Conference held in Tremont. The annual event brings together farmers and industry professionals to learn about agronomy research, technology advancements, and economic insights from PTx and its brands.

“Providing farmers with new trial results, the latest in technology research, and a few pages of notes to reference at home is why we host this conference,” said Bryce Baker, marketing director at PTx. “This year’s conference continues the 23-year legacy of the Precision Planting Winter Conference and adds the PTx Trimble brand in its 24th year.”

One of the major product launches was ArrowTube, a new seed delivery system designed to improve corn seed placement. The system accurately spaces seeds at high speeds while orienting corn seeds tip down and positioning the embryo sideways. This helps roots and shoots grow naturally and encourages leaves to spread across rows, allowing plants to capture more sunlight. As a result, farmers can benefit from more uniform emergence, faster canopy closure, and improved yield potential.

Another key introduction was SymphonyVision | Duo, a retrofit sprayer technology that allows farmers to apply two different herbicide treatments in a single pass. Using camera technology and dual nozzles, the system spot sprays contact herbicides only where weeds are detected while also applying residual herbicides across the field. This approach improves weed control efficiency and maximizes sprayer tank capacity without adding per-acre fees.

Conference attendees also learned about SmokeRow, a sprayer add-on designed to manage weeds along field edges, waterways, and terraces. By targeting areas beyond the boom width, SmokeRow helps reduce weed seed buildup that can cause problems in future seasons. The system uses a separate tank, allowing farmers to apply a different chemical mix for edge control.

“Timeliness matters for every field operation,” said Mike Schlitt, strategic marketing manager, PTx. “Fall tillage that is done immediately after harvest when the weather is warmer leads to more residue breakdown in the fall and more nutrient availability in the spring.”

“Autonomy can help growers complete their field operations in the timeliest manner possible to hit the optimum agronomic window for each operation,” said Schlitt.

In addition, PTx Trimble highlighted its OutRun autonomous system. The technology allows tractors to operate independently, improving timeliness for critical field tasks such as fall tillage and grain cart operations. Timely fieldwork supports better residue breakdown and nutrient availability.

The 2026 PTx Winter Conference continues through January 23 and is expected to attract about 5,000 attendees across in-person and remote locations in the United States and Canada.
