Paterson Grain has purchased all of Parrish and Heimbecker’s equity in Alliance Seed Corporation, a Dec. 8 news release said.
“Paterson believes that strong genetics are the foundation for the future of agriculture and continues to be highly engaged in this business. Alliance has strong staff, growers and a pipeline of exceptional varieties. We look forward to leveraging the experience gained during our collaboration with (Parrish and Heimbecker) to further innovate and drive excellence in the seed genetics industry,” Shane Paterson, director of trading and transportation at Paterson Grain, said in the release.
Alliance Seed began in 2009 as a joint venture between Paterson Grain, Parrish and Heimbecker, Weyburn Inland Terminal, North West Terminal, Prairie West Terminal and Great Sandhills Terminal. With the sale of Parrish and Heimbecker shares to Paterson Grain, North West Terminal and Paterson Grain are the two remaining shareholders.
“The joint venture, established in 2009, has proven to be mutually beneficial, creating synergies that have contributed to the success of all shareholders. (Parrish and Heimbecker) looks forward to continuing on as a channel partner with Alliance,” Anthony Kulbacki, president of the grain division at Parrish and Heimbecker, said in the release.
The release noted Alliance Seed operations won’t change as a result of the transaction. In an email from Parrish and Heimbecker, the company stated Alliance Seed varieties will remain as an option for producers at Parrish and Heimbecker retail locations as well as other seed varieties, crop protection and fertilizer products.
“Paterson Grain and Northwest Terminals have been, and continue to be, strong supporters of Alliance Seed. Alliance Seed looks forward to continuing our retail relationship with (Parrish and Heimbecker) as part of our retail network,” Jodee Karlowsky, general manager of Alliance Seed, stated in an email.
