The Foundation
Novid Inc., founded by brothers Chuck & Rudy Brandt in Rosenort, Manitoba, in 2002, emerged when their business Rosenort Agro sought durable solutions for liquid fertilizer storage. Frustrated with the short lifespan of carbon steelfertilizer tanks, they turned to stainless steel, which they had successfully used for dry fertilizer storage since the 1980s. Recognizing the superior durability of stainless steel, they built tanks for their own use, sparking interest among local farmers and neighboring agri-retailers. Seeing the growing demand, the Brandt family established Novid Inc. in 2003, naming it after the Latin phrase "new vision."
The Growth
Initially, Novid operated out of a small shed behind Rosenort Agro's retail facility meeting the growing demand for stainless steel liquid fertilizer storage, and led to the construction of an 8,250-square-foot manufacturing shop in Rosenort's industrial park in 2009. An office was added in 2010, and the shop was expanded to 13,200 square feet in 2011.
Still a Family Business
By 2015, Novid's growth prompted the Brandt family to sell the business. Instead of selling to a larger corporation, the Brandts chose to sell majority ownership to the Plett family, a local family with a strong manufacturing background. This decision ensured Novid remained in Rosenort to continue growing the local economy. Frank and Ryan Plett—experienced manufacturers from Rosenort—took majority ownership andcontinued driving Novid's growth.
Continued Growth
Since 2015, Novid has experienced significant growth from the increased demand of stainless steel vessel composters, stainless steel cone bottom chemical tanks, stainless steel hopper bottom dry fertilizer bins, and stainless steel hot load tanks. With its workforce, production, and sales more than quadrupling, the company has continuously expanded its manufacturing space, repurposing and adding facilities in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. In 2022, Novid acquired a neighboring property with a 3,000-square-foot warehouse and began a phased office expansion in 2023, aiming for 10,000 square feet in total office space. The original 3-acre site has grown to 28 acres to support future growth.
