The winners have been announced for the Manitoba Ag Days Innovation Showcase 2022.
There were 33 entries this year in 7 categories.
“Our committee had such a tough time this year selecting the winners. The depth of this field and the unbelievable quality in the entries this year was outstanding. Our committee took the approach of what innovation would have the biggest impact on the entire sector of that category; we focused on future needs and expected regulations for growers as we selected our winners. This was not an easy task as all 33 of these companies deserve recognition for their contributions to innovation in agriculture,” said Brad Crammond, Manitoba Ag Days Co-Chairmen and the Chair of the Innovation Judging Committee
Agribusiness Services
Winner – UKKO Agro Inc. – ForeSite; Predictive Crop Modelling. ForeSite is a predictive modelling platform that helps agronomist prioritize at scale if, when, and where to scout by providing a 10 day heads up on crop growth and need for crop input applications.
Animal and Livestock
Winner – Roquette – Pea Cream – Liquid Livestock Feed - Pea Cream is a new-to-Canada, liquid livestock feed produced at the Portage pea protein plant using wet pea pulp/concentrated pea soluble. Pea Cream offers producers a local, sustainable feed that may reduce impact from supply chain/weather events.
Ag Technology
Winner – Croplands Equipment PTY LTD. – WEED-IT Quadro detects chlorophyll in actively growing weeds in fallow fields, identifying and targeting them with high accuracy. By applying crop protection products where they are needed most, saves producers water and time and precious soil moisture.
Runner up – ATP Nutrition Ltd. – NutriScan 2.0 is a hand-held, diagnostic soil testing technology that is revolutionizing the way we test soil. It gives you access to a complete soil test (soil characteristics, macros, micros, base sats) in less than 5 mins and is calibrated for Western Canada.
Agronomics
Winner – Timac Agro Canada – TopPhos is a patented groundbreaking technology that offers a new and exclusive form of monocalcium phosphate as compared to traditional forms of P used in standard fertilizers. Its patented root enhancing technology and complexing agents protect phosphate against tie up in low and high pH soils. This seedrow safe, low salt index (9) phosphate is soluble at any pH making it readily available to plants and increasing nutrient uptake.
Runner up – Belchim Crop Protection Canada – TOUGH600EC - The problem of Kochia has plagued pulse producers for years, and is getting worse as Kochia has developed resistance to existing solutions. TOUGH is a new group 6 herbicide for the control/ suppression of emerged broadleaf weeds that offers exceptional control of Group 2, 4 & 9 resistant Kochia in Pulses. TOUGH is a photosynthesis inhibitor that provides Pulse producers with a new tool for extremely effective suppression of Kochia up to 10 cm in height.

Farm Safety
Winner – Michel’s Industries – Camera Arm is a camera mounted to a spring loaded arm which pops up when the tarp system is opened and is retracted under the protection of the tarp when the tarp system is closed keeping the arm under height requirements for travel yet allows enough height when in use to see over the piles of grain when loading. The cameras connect to a 7” high quality Wireless Monitor in the semi cab allowing single view of one camera, split view of 2 cameras or quad view of up to 4 cameras.
Runner up – Bushel Plus – Multi Drop pan Concept ;the Innovative MultiDrop System. Bushel Plus has found an innovative way to design, patent & build a MULTI drop pan carrier that can hold more than one droppan at a time. Like a magazine of a gun, you can load multiple pans in the carrier and drop them individually one after the other. This innovation was made and developed here in Manitoba.
Agricultural Equipment
Winner – Triple Green Products – BioDryAir - Triple Green Products has developed and tested a better way of drying your grain without the use of propane or natural gas and the high cost associated with these traditionally used fossil fuels and the associated carbon tax. Our BioDryAir system hooks up to your existing grain dryer and provides very dry, hot air to efficiently and cost effectively dry your crops. The BioDryAir is fully automated and can be monitored using a cell phone. The BioDryAir comes in multiple sizes to best suit the farmers needs.
Runner up – Sedmaster – Ultra SR; precise seed and fertilizer placement. At 60 feet wide with 750 bushels of total capacity, the Ultra SR increases maneuverability and contours to the land to ensure precise seed and fertilizer placement. The Ultra SR offers multiple benefits for the end user.
