Why should soybean quality matter to farmers?
As farm managers, it is important that you select soybean varieties that meet your agronomic needs in terms of yield, soil types and insect and disease resistance. However, you must also understand who your final customer is and what their needs are.
Who are U.S. soybean farmers’ biggest customers, and what do they want?
Animal agriculture is the biggest end user of soybean meal, and they demand high-quality protein. Soybean meal delivers nutrients and protein with a balanced amino-acid profile that is critical to animal health and performance.
How can farmers meet this demand?
Look at the protein and oil value of the soybean when it comes to variety selection. These characteristics are important to continue to meet our customers’ demands. When you select your seed varieties, look at the whole picture and consider both your needs and your customers’ needs.
