Grain Movement Slowing Down in Saskatchewan

Feb 12, 2015

Grain movement is slowing down according to the latest report from the Ag Transport Coalition.

The third weekly report says the railways are almost 18 thousand hopper cars or 10 per-cent behind delivery for the first 24 weeks of the crop year.

Brett Halstead, president of the Canadian Canola Growers association, says the railways are losing ground despite warm weather in January.

Halstead says the grain delivery delays are costly and borne by farmers.
