The Extension Women in Agriculture Program is back! It will be held at the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center near Manitowoc on March 7th. The center is located at 7001 Gass Lake Road, south of Manitowoc.
The program is called “VITAL – Valuably Informed Thriving Agriculture Leader.” It celebrates the important role women play in farming and agriculture. The event will be fun and educational, happening on Friday, March 7th, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm (registration starts at 9:00 am). The goals are to provide women educational opportunities, to help connect with agricultural resources, and to create support networks.
The UW-Madison Division of Extension has planned an exciting day. Topics include calf transport and deciding if automation is right for your dairy. Emily Selner will talk about estate planning and passing your dairy to the next generation. A panel will discuss how to share your farm story on social media. Dr. Donald Sockett will give a talk on new ideas for feeding dairy calves. There will also be breakout sessions on keeping employees and mental health tips.
Women in agriculture are encouraged to join this “day away from the farm” to connect with others who share similar experiences. The registration fee is $30 per person before February 25th and $35 after that and on the event day. The fee includes a farm-to-table meal, breaks, and materials.
