Drones Becoming More Popular Among Farmers

Dec 15, 2014
More and more farmers in the province are adding drones to their equipment list.

Rejean Picard, farm production advisor with Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development says the popularity of the multi-propeller unit has really taken off in the last two or three years.

Picard notes there are many benefits to using the device.

"It's an additional tool that can be used by crop farmers, or livestock producers even, to have another view of the field," he said. "To be able to look at fields and conditions where they may not be able to when the crop is tall or advanced. To have a record of the field at different stages of development."

He expects more farmers to start using the device due to its low cost and easy operation
