Canadian National Texas Longhorns show at Agribition

The Canadian National Texas Longhorn Show kicked off the first purebred beef events at Agribition earlier this week.

Pete Hildebrand, President of the Canadian Texas Longhorn Association says there are Longhorn breeders now from British Columbia right through to Ontario.

This year's National show featured eight exhibitors from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta with 46 cattle entered.

The Grand Champion Heifer was exhibited by Kari Regenski of Patricia, Alberta.

Deb Lesyk from Double D Arena out of Outlook showed the Grand Champion Female and the Grand Champion Bull.

Hildebrand says the judge for the show was Carla Payne from Texas.

She was very pleased with the Canadian Texas Longhorns and was interested in taking some genetics home. 

He notes that while they didn't have a sale this year, it's something they'd be interested in doing, possibly even next year.
