2026 Winter Wheat-Tastic Wheat Wisdom Wednesday Webinar Series

Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Wheat Program have lined up three wheat-tastic “Wheat Wisdom” webinars for January and February 2026. All three webinars focus on marketing.

Marketing is a very broad topic that covers many aspects of a grower’s operation. Winter is a good time to invest a little research into learning what’s new in wheat marketing and what tools are available to support the bottom line. To help growers expand and hone their marketing horizons, the Michigan Wheat Program is excited to bring winter webinars to growers.

“We are all experiencing tough markets right now, so it made sense to bring back our wheat-tastic webinars with a special focus on marketing information for Michigan wheat farmers,” said Jeffery Krohn, the Owendale farmer who chairs the nine-member Michigan Wheat Program Board of Directors. “We on the Board are excited to hear what our experts have to share to help each of us with our bottom line.”

The webinars are free and take place every other Wednesday over Zoom. Watch them live and chime in with questions or comments during the 60-minute sessions with some of our favorite wheat headliners—who are outstanding in their field (naturally)!

Jody Pollok-Newsom, executive director for the Michigan Wheat Program, worked with not only Michigan State University’s wheat specialist, Dennis Pennington, but also the Michigan State Univerity Extension wheat team of Jenna Falor and Monica Jean to identify the exciting speaker lineup, which follows.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 7–8 p.m. – With tight crop margins, how do you get the most “bang for your buck” from your Wheat Crop? Tune in when Pennington and Jon LaPorte from Michigan State University share their newly-developed wheat production calculator. This tool allows growers to make changes in the amount of inputs applied, their yield, their price, etc. Through this tool, growers see immediately what that means to their bottom line.

Wednesday, Jan 21, 7–8 p.m.– Wheat marketing is essential in this climate! Join Angie Setzer of Consus Consulting, Michigan, to get the latest information on what is happening in the markets and what is on the horizon. Tuning in will allow you to prepare for what’s best for you.
