Environment Canada confirmed the tornado, Saskatchewan’s seventh of 2016, touched down at about 8:15pm on Tuesday.
Willner said she, her parents and two dogs went to the basement when they realized a tornado was in their yard. Minutes later Gord, Sydney’s father, returned upstairs to find a damaged yard.
“There’s a hundred years-worth of hard work that you can’t replace,” Gord told Global News.
The Willners weren’t the only farm family impacted by the twister. It traveled onto the neighbouring property of Sheri Warkentin where it tore the roof off of her barn.
“The tornado went passed us and there was white fuzz in the air so I think we figured out it’s probably insulation from a shed,” she told Global News.
The community has rallied behind the Willners, offering assistance to help clean up.
Gord Willner said he’s fortunate to have friends and family willing to lend a hand.
