Elsewhere in Saskatchewan, the RCMP is increasing its presence in some rural areas.
In West Central Saskatchewan, and with residents reporting thefts of fuel and equipment, break-ins and property damage, RCMP is using additional tools to support those communities.
“Saskatchewan RCMP say they are using intelligence-led policing to target rural crime, including in the Kindersley detachment area,” WestCentralOnline reported. “Police collect and analyze information to identify crime hot spots, guide strategic patrols and focus enforcement efforts where they are most needed.”
In addition, officers are distributing information pamphlets about measures to lower potential risks, and fridge magnets where residents can write down legal land descriptions.
Crime in rural Saskatchewan has increased in recent years.
A 2025 Statistics Canada report about rural crime in 2023 found overall rural crime in Saskatchewan up by 4 per cent from 2022.
The same report found property crime occurs at a rate 32 per cent higher than in urban areas.
