A John Deere equipment dealer will be opening a new Alberta location next year.
Cervus Equipment is building a 44,000 square-foot facility near Highway 2 and Highway 42 near Penhold, Alta., the company announced on Feb. 5.
The new location will be equipped with a 16-bay shop and an overhead crane. In addition, it will have a training facility to help customers and staff learn about equipment.
This new dealership will also result in the closure of Cervus locations in Red Deer and Olds.
Bringing people and resources from Red Deer and Olds into a central location will provide better service opportunities for customers.
“By consolidating these dealerships, we can offer increased parts availability, technician specialization and an enhanced customer experience,” Doug Pilsner, director of sales, Agriculture Canada, said in a statement. “We look forward to continued discussion with our customers and producers in the Red Deer, Olds and Penhold area, and to demonstrating our increased capacity to support their needs, both on-farm and in-store."
Cervus recognizes these changes may result in inconveniences for producers who frequented the locations in Red Deer and Olds.
Therefore, the company has announced a series of measures it will implement to ensure customers are receiving fair and high-quality service. They include:
- For two years, Cervus will charge transportation costs to the Penhold location at the same rate it would have been from a customer’s farm to Olds or Red Deer, whichever is closer.
- For two years, Cervus will keep travel charges for field service technicians at the same rate as they would’ve been from a customer’s farm to Olds or Red Deer, whichever is closer.
- And Cervus’ Parts OnSite program will help farmers stock the right parts on their farms.
