John Deere and Scherer Design Engineering announce agreement

Companies will work to develop kernel processing solutions

John Deere and Scherer Design Engineering announced an agreement that will see the two companies work together to develop and commercialize kernel processing solutions for self-propelled forage harvesters.

Scherer manufactures aftermarket rolls and kernel processors. With the agreement, the companies will develop broader options to harvest crops and produce feed for dairy cattle.

"Deere is committed to developing industry leading kernel processing solutions with the goal to drive higher milk production in dairy cows," said Jon Chase, John Deere global director, self-propelled forage harvesters and heads, in a release. "This arrangement with Scherer will only strengthen Deere's offering and our ability to deliver clear benefits to custom operators and dairies."

For 2017, Deere dealers will offer twin-cut replacement rolls for self-propelled forage harvesters.

"We are extremely pleased with this agreement," says Jason Schiebout, manager and co-owner of Scherer, in a release. "John Deere dealers will have access, through this allied agreement, to Scherer Kernel Processor products, including aftermarket kernel processor rolls.
