Minnesota-based General Mills has issued a voluntary product recall for their Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars, due to packaging mislabelling. The company has issued a Class 1 recall as 1,200 Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars were packaged in boxes that did not list peanuts as an ingredient, which could lead to very serious health effects for people with severe allergies to peanuts and peanut products.According to a company press release “a production error resulted in a limited number of properly labeled, individually wrapped Peanut Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bar packages being inserted into 6-count boxes labeled as Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars.”The recall includes six-count boxes of Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars with the "Better if Used By" date of "26FEB2013" printed on the top.Consumers can request a full refund from General Mills by contacting their customer services at 1-800-231-0308.
