Farm Management Canada (FMC) is sending out a call to young farmers, asking them to participate in its “Y We Farm” video competition.

The winners of the third annual contest will get an all-expenses-paid trip to FMC’s Agricultural Excellent Conference being held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from November 19-21. FMC plans to send three lucky winners for a western fall opportunity.

Interested applicants must create a short video under one minute in length and answer the question: “What are you doing to contribute to a successful Canadian agricultural industry?”

According to FMC, video submissions will be properly vetted, then featured on their YouTube channel. Entries will be judged on several elements, including presentation style and content, relevance. The deadline to submit a video entry will close on October 24, 2014. The competition is open to persons aged 20-40 and they must be actively involved in farming in order to qualify for the prize.

The three winners will be expected to report live from the event via Twitter. And upon their return, the winners are required to write an article and create a second video to share their experience. The opportunity may also foster future professional development opportunities including attending and / or speaking at FMC sponsor events.

FMC is a national organization that devotes their time to provide management-related resources and advice for farm community and the agricultural industry. Some of their resources include topics on succession planning, marketing, human resources and finances. Their website is updated daily with new information.
