FCL completes transition of Blair’s stores to local Co-ops
Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) has announced the sale of six Blair’s Family of Companies (BCS) ag retail locations to four local Co-ops, marking the end of a major transition. This change follows FCL’s purchase of all remaining shares in its joint venture with the Blair’s family, which began in 2021.
The Co-ops acquiring the sites are Prairie Co-op, Riverbend Co-op, Moose Jaw Co-op, and Saskatoon Co-op. Under the new arrangement, Prairie Co-op will take over the McLean ag retail store, while Riverbend Co-op will assume the Nokomis and Lanigan locations. Moose Jaw Co-op will manage the Liberty site, and Saskatoon Co-op will acquire the Rosthern and Watrous locations.
In addition, Riverbend Co-op will acquire an ammonia bullet in Davidson, and Lake Country Co-op will take ownership of one in Petrofka. These facilities will continue to support farm operations with essential crop and input services.
“The joint venture with the Blair’s family has been a positive, mutually beneficial partnership as Co-op continues to grow its Ag retail footprint across Western Canada,” said Ron Healey, FCL Vice President, Energy & Ag. “With today’s announcement, we are excited to see four local Co-ops take over operation of these sites.”
