CASA announces departure of CEO Andrea Lear

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) has announced that Chief Executive Officer Andrea Lear will be departing from her role after nearly three years with the organization, having joined in January 2021.

During her time with CASA, Andrea has been instrumental in furthering the organization’s mission of promoting safety and health within the agricultural sector.

“It has been an absolute privilege to lead the CASA team and collaborate with such a dedicated and passionate network of partners. Together, we have made meaningful progress in improving safety and health in agriculture, and I am proud of the work we’ve done.” said Andrea.

Andrea, who grew up on a small rural farm in Manitoba, brought a personal connection to agriculture to her role, coupled with more than 17 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector. Her leadership at CASA was grounded in values of partnership, community, and a strong commitment to improving the lives of those working in agriculture.

“We are deeply grateful to Andrea for her leadership, vision, and tireless dedication to CASA’s mission,” said Peter Sykanda, CASA’s Board Chair. “Under her leadership, CASA

has made significant strides in advancing agricultural safety, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”

CASA has appointed Dean Anderson, a long-standing Board member and advocate for agricultural safety, as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Dean’s deep understanding of CASA’s work and his extensive experience make him well-suited to provide stable leadership during this transition. The Board is confident that Dean will ensure continuity as CASA moves forward with its objectives.

CASA remains committed to its mission of enhancing health and safety in agriculture. The Board will begin the search for a permanent CEO in the coming months.
