Application Open for Schools to Join State Agriculture Project
To enhance agricultural education, Arkansas schools are invited to apply for the Farm to School Institute by the end of February.
This program, managed by the state Department of Agriculture, provides crucial support for schools to either launch or expand their farm to school initiatives.
Jessica Chapman, the program’s coordinator, highlighted the comprehensive support the institute offers. "Even if they already have something going, this is a great way to build their Farm-to-School program in all different aspects," said Chapman, underlining the program's holistic approach to incorporating agriculture in education, from the classroom to the cafeteria and beyond.
Participating schools will be guided through a structured plan development process at a summer retreat, where they will be paired with a coach and receive $1,000 to implement their unique agricultural strategies.
