Peoria, Illinois – A temporary shutdown has been ordered at Archer Daniels Midland’s Peoria, Illinois corn processing plant. An early morning explosion in the maintenance area of the plant on Wednesday forced the company to temporarily halt operations at the plant as a fire had broken out as the result of a boiler explosion.The explosion happened at approximately 3:00am local time. While the cause of the explosion is not yet clear, no one was hurt in the incident, however fire officials say that one person was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.Archer Daniels Midland operates more than 270 plants worldwide and is a global leader in cereal grains and oilseeds processing. Their headquarters are located in Decatur, Illinois.
