Alta. farmers can earn farm lunch deliveries

Farmers can be nominated online

Farmers have enough to worry about during the spring, and an Alberta radio station and local businesses want to take care of lunch for area producers.

104.5 More Country and StrathmoreNow are leading the Meals on the Farm initiative in 2025.

Through Meals on the Farm, farmers in Wheatland County can receive a lunch delivery courtesy of Baldwin’s BBQ delivered by members of the More Country team as well as reps from Johnston’s Grain, Fountain Tire, and Strathmore Motor Products.

To nominate a farmer, people can visit StrathmoreNow’s website and fill in four pieces of information.

A complete application must include the name of the farm or business, its location and phone number, and the nominator’s name.

Wheatland County is home to hundreds of farms.

The 2016 Census of Agriculture for Alberta counted 810 farms in the county stretching cross 1,130,720 acres of land.

This means farms in the region are roughly 1,395 acres each.

Producers in other communities may have opportunities to receive farm lunch deliveries.

AFSC partnered has partnered with multiple radio stations in the past for Meals in the Field.

“We, at AFSC, want to thank Alberta's farmers for their drive, dedication and determination while giving them a much-needed break during harvest,” a contest page says.

And in Saskatchewan, DiscoverEstevan participates in the Grain Rush delivery program.
