During the 2016 Agri-Trade Equipment Expo in Red Deer, Alberta, three pieces of technology were awarded Ag Innovations awards for their contributions to helping farmers complete their work.

First place went to the STOCKade ST400i. It’s the world’s first 4mm diameter/9 gauge cordless fencing stapler.

“It has the power of a pneumatic fencing stapler but is not reliant on compressors and hoses,” an Agri-Trade Equipment Expo release said.

The Raczynski Sales Inc. Tire Jogger, a skid steer farm tire handler, received second place.

“This innovation is a safe and easy way to handle large farm tires, specifically designed for high clearance sprayer tires,” the Agri-Trade Equipment Expo release said.

Michelin’s Cargo X Bib High Flotation 750/60R30.5 tire received third place.

“The agricultural industry relies on continuous innovation that supports profitability, productivity and safety for farmers,” Mike Pantaleo, customer engineering support for Michelin Agriculture tires, said in a company release upon receiving the award. “Michelin is pleased to receive a 2016 Ag Innovations Award for the Cargo X Bib, a tire designed to help farmers preserve crop yields, lower fuel consumption, increase tire life and save time.”

Show organizers said with an event dedicated to new technology and equipment, choosing the recipients was a tough assignment.

“It is always difficult to get it down to 3 winners,” Rod Bradshaw, Ag Innovations Committee chair and Innisfail area farmer, said in the release. “The technology is diversifying every year, and the ideas keep getting better. We believe this year’s winning entries will have broad appeal and could be readily adopted by a lot of farmers.”
