Eggs are the subject of several Guinness World Records. Here are a few.

A White Leghorn hen in Vineland, N.J., laid the heaviest chicken egg in 1956. It was 16 oz (453 g) and had a double shell and double yolk.

The largest egg ever laid by any bird dates back about 1,000 years ago.

The Madagascan elephant bird (pictured) laid eggs measuring 13 inches (33 cm) long which could hold 8.5 litres (2.25 gal) of liquid, Guinness says.
